1. Introduction

Ktn Apps (“We”, “Us”, or “Developer”) respects the privacy of users of Business Card Scanner (“App”). This privacy policy explains what data is processed and how it is protected when you use the App.

2. Data Collection and Processing

2.1. No Data Collection

Business Card Scanner does not collect, store, or share any user data with third parties. The App operates entirely on-device.

2.2. OCR (Optical Character Recognition)

Text recognition on card images is performed entirely on your device using Apple’s Vision framework.
No card images or extracted text are sent to any external server, API, or AI service.

2.3. Stored Data

The App stores the following data locally on your device:

Card images
First and last name, job title, company name
Email addresses, phone numbers
Website, address information
LinkedIn and Twitter usernames
Notes and tags
OCR output text and confidence score
Scan date and last contacted date
Favorite status

All of this data is stored only on your device.

3. iCloud and CloudKit

The App uses Apple’s CloudKit infrastructure (NSPersistentCloudKitContainer) for optional iCloud synchronization.

When iCloud sync is enabled, your card data is stored on Apple’s cloud servers and synchronized across your other devices signed in with the same Apple ID.
This synchronization is subject to Apple’s privacy and security standards.
You can manage iCloud sync from your device’s Settings > Apple ID > iCloud menu.
When iCloud is disabled, all data remains solely on your device.

4. Spotlight Search

The App uses CoreSpotlight to make your cards searchable via on-device Spotlight. This indexing happens entirely on your device and no data is sent to Apple.

5. Camera and Photo Library Access

The App may request access to your camera and photo library for scanning cards:

Camera: Used to scan new cards. The camera is not activated without your permission.
Photo Library: Used for batch import of card images.

These permissions can be managed at any time from your iOS settings. The App does not save or share any data from your camera or photo library without your knowledge.

6. Third-Party Services

The App contains no third-party analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking SDKs. This means none of the following are used:

Google Analytics / Firebase
Crashlytics
Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment
Advertising networks (AdMob, etc.)
Social media tracking tools

7. Data Security

All data is stored under iOS’s App Sandbox security model.
The Core Data store resides only on your device when iCloud sync is disabled.
Card images are stored using Core Data’s external binary storage (allowsExternalBinaryDataStorage) for optimal performance.

8. Your Control Over Data

The App gives you full control over your data:

View and Edit: All card information can be viewed and edited within the App.
Export: You can export your cards in CSV, VCard, or JSON (backup) format.
Delete: Cards can be deleted individually or in bulk. Deleted cards are permanently removed.
Spotlight Index: You can refresh the Spotlight index from within the App.

9. Children’s Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13. The App is intended for general use and has no age restriction.

10. Changes to This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. In case of changes, the update date at the top of the policy will be revised. Significant changes may be communicated within the App.
